What Is An Affiliate ?

When we talk about an affiliate we are talking about a person or company that sends visitors to a website in exchange for commissions or other agreed upon compensation. As an affiliate you don't have the responsibilities of handling merchandise and all the associated customer service, shipping, inventory and all the usual "brick and mortar" obligations.

You are getting paid to refer people to another company that assumes all the responsibilities of getting the product to the consumer. As an affiliate you are providing a valuable service to the customer in the form of them knowing that you are endorsing a quality product and most times is a product that you use yourself. However, choosing the right affiliate program is the real trick.

Most affiliate merchants or vendors make the whole process easy for their affiliates. You go to the vendors site, type in your name, address and other required information. You must also submit your website for approval. Once approved you are given a unique link to  paste into your website so the vendor can track which affiliate is responsible for generating the sale.
